Let them eat cake! Crowdsourcing at libraries?
Nicholas Thompson, Senior Editor of Wired Magazine, talks about how industries such as journalism and fashion can leverage the idea of crowdsourcing to give customers a voice. Imagine what this means for libraries and other non-profits. We need to begin to let our customers choose what they want on a bigger scale than a suggestion box that leaves the final decision to us. And why not let groups vote on titles. Not that we have to let the entire collection go free but there should be a portion that the public can choose. This is what social networking tools are all about! If you're curious about this type of marketing, I'll be presenting at CIL .... is anyone already doing this? Let me know, I'd love to brag about you in the presentation.
