I'm making my final preparations to get to the Computers in Libraries conference, which starts a week from today.
The coolest part of the CIL conference is the InfoTubey Awards, where technology and marketing converge. Librarians enter promotional videos that they made for YouTube, and a team of judges (inc. yours truly) decides which do the best job of promoting libraries and their services. At the red carpet awards gala, we go all out with a great presentation, showing each winning video and handing real trophies to the proud creators. You'll get a great sense of the event from this cool video that David Lee King (a new LJ Mover and Shaker!) made and posted – where else – on YouTube! Check it out and see how much fun you can have promoting your library!
In fact, I was helping present the awards at last year's InfoTubies when I met Nancy Dowd -- her "What Are Your Three Reasons?" viral video campaign was one of the winners. It rocked!!
