BBC News requests photos and videos from civilians and CNN calls them ireports . Citizen journalism is hot and its growing and in a few months we are going to begin seeing an onslaught on new media filmed by local citizens. It is the natural evolution of web 2.0. Users are proficient using the tools and now they want places to use them... web 2.0 users want to participate in the process, they want to create and comment and that's just the direction news is taking.
Here in NJ we set up a place where libraries can enter their press releases and we started a Flickr group. The public can view these at njlibriares.org but I am thinking we will be changing that up a bit and start to find the format that will allow our users to add their pictures and comments and ratings... I need a clone to implement all these ideas!
