Awards from ALA: 2011 PR Xchange Best of Show Winners

Back to the American Library Association's annual conference coverage. I'd be remiss if I didn't post about the PR Xchange (an annual opportunity for PR people to swap ideas & materials) and its own contest, the Best of Show awards.

The committees that sponsor this dual event were kind enough to share the BoS winner list with The M Word. (Thanks, Jennie & Kim!)  I'll add some of my pictures from the event.

Nancy Dowd holds up a BoS button since she & the
NJ State Library won in the Advocacy--Print category.

Hi,

Is there anywhere online where the actual items that won can be viewed?

Thanks!

Hi Yvonne,

As far as I know, that's never been done. Each item would have to be digitized, and with some of the service categories that wouldn't be possible. That could also run into permissions challenges, so I think that the winners have only been displayed at the event itself.

If any are of particular interest to you, you could contact the winner directly. And some, such as videos or annual reports, you may find already only at the winning libraries' sites.

Thanks for reading The M Word!

Here are links to PDF copies of the two "honorable mentions" from University of Kansas Libraries - the 2010 annual report (http://ow.ly/5FsZW), and the spring 2010 issue of Bibliophile (http://ow.ly/5Ft1Y). Bibliophile looks a bit odd this way because it's shown in spreads, so you have to imagine it printed and folded in thirds(!).

I also wish there was a place to view the winning items online! No one from our publicity dept. was able to make it to ALA and it would be nice to see the winners...library graphic design doesn't get talked about nearly enough for my taste!
