New Study Shows Mobile Phones Merging New, Established Roles: Communicator, Shopping Aide, Entertainment and Research Hub

This release from Knowledge Networks talks about the role mobile phones are playing in our lives.

These are among the findings of How People Use(R) Cell Phones, a new study from Knowledge Networks.

Three in five (60%) mobile phone owners say they carry their phones at all times, even inside the home -- up 50% since a 2002 KN analysis; and 32% say they call friends or family "all the time" or "often" when making shopping decisions, a figure that jumps to 45% among those ages 18 to 34. When asked an open-ended question about what they dislike about their cell phones, respondents most often (15%) said, "Nothing.
"

I was at a round table session in NYC the other day and the man next to me poked me to show me there was a message from his library on his cell phone letting him know his books were ready. What about mobile marketing? Has anyone been running any mobile contests, database building, or an other neat things with mobiles? I hear once you get outside of the US mobiles can do amazing things. Does anyone have a story to share?
