CIL's InfoTubey Awards Recognize Library Marketing Videos on YouTube

I'm just home from the CIL Conference in DC and am recovering from same...

There are a couple good posts on the Information Today blog that I want to point you to (rather than reiterating everything here).

First, and most market-y, check out the second InfoTubey Awards! ITI created these awards to honor library-related videos that appear on YouTube in order to promote libraries and their services. Some are serious & useful; others are funny & playful. All are great examples of showing libraries in a positive, interesting, and new light. (I can say that with authority, since I was on the judging panel!)

Check out the post about the awards gala, which includes pics of the event and embedded videos from all five winners.

And, great news again for Jersey girls -- another one has won! Last year I presented an award to Nancy Dowd; this year I gave one to Beth Cackowski (left) of SJRLC for the great video / commercial about QandANJ. I love this stuff!

I myself judge a couple competitions and it turns out quite differently than this though. I mean I deal with children under 12 years of age so its more fun and games but then again it really gets the blood and adrenaline of these youngsters to compete in future competitions for the older crowd!
