That's me to the left - one of the rare instances when I have been in front of a camera rather than behind it. For the most part, I am usually the one saying, “Okay, say cheese!” and have a fairly large collection of pictures that I will share once I get my photo blog up and running.
I've started this blog because as a marketer for the NJ State Library, I am always coming across interesting articles, new concepts and great ideas that I think anyone trying to market their library might be interested in having a chance to read. Plus I wanted to create a forum where we could all start to share our ideas and thoughts and help each other to find answers to problems we are encountering in journey to tell the public about our libraries.
First, a little background.
I started my career in libraries at the Ocean County Library where I created the marketing campaign that put my director Elaine McConnell and a slew of incredible library people on a Harley and dressed them in leather for a calendar that ended up making news around the world.
I had a lot of fun at OCL and met an awful lot of great people who saw all the connections that libraries played in changing lives and making the world a better place. From there I came the NJ State Library committed to helping other libraries get the word out. I’ll talk more about the plans we have going on here in my next posting.
Meanwhile, don't forget that the NJLA Conference is coming up April 24-26. I’ll be there at a booth. We are going to try to set up Jeopardy Game as a fun way to let everyone know about the State Library and give you a chance to win some fun free prizes… sign up for the conference and stop by and say hello. We are also giving an update about what we’ve been doing – Wednesday morning. Details to follow….
